Clare integrates her love of both interior design and architecture in every project she works on. With a unified approach to interior-exterior relationships, Clare transforms conceptual ideas into tactile, customized environments that respond to each client's needs.
Clare’s interest in both disciplines began while growing up in Montreal, Quebec. An interest became a passion while studying Interior Design at the Academy of Design in Montreal. Her education continued at Dalhousie University (TUNS) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she received a Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies and a Masters of Architecture.
Since that time, Clare has obtained over 20 years of experience in a variety of roles, which include Senior Lead Interior Designer, Project Manager, Intern Architect, Educator and Mentor. She has worked in on-site construction, commercial corporate environments, retail and hospitality design, education, healthcare, and most recently – luxury residential architecture and interiors. Prior to opening Mackey Design Group, she was also an Associate Professor at Mount Royal University where her main instruction took place in the Design and Construction streams with 3rd year students under the BID (applied) programme. Clare also taught in 2018/2019 as a Contract Faculty member where she lectured in Systems 7 and critiqued 4th year students in Studio 7 + 8 project work in the BID programme
Clare is dedicated to the practice of integrating interior design and architecture holistically. Besides her thirst for design, Clare loves art, photography, traveling and sketching, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends in Calgary, Alberta.
M.EVDes | BID (applied) | LEED AP
Emma joined the Mackey Design Group team in December 2018. Although she is the newest member of the team, we’ve had the pleasure of knowing Emma for many years in the Calgary design industry. She has spent the past 9 years honing her interior design and project management skills in both commercial and residential interiors. She has worked in food and beverage, retail, multi family, high end residential and hospitality projects.
After graduating from Mount Royal University with her BID (Applied), Emma continued her education at the University of Calgary and obtained her Master’s in Environmental Design Studies and then went on to complete her LEED GA accreditation.
Born and raised in Calgary, Emma brings a thoughtful, energetic and dynamic spirit to all the projects that she works on. Not only is Emma a killer interior designer, but her baking skills are bar none. We are so fortunate to see her smiling face daily in the studio!

Monica has a lifelong love of design and all things beautiful. After completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree at the U of C, she had the opportunity to live and work in several cosmopolitan cities including Chicago and New York which further increased her passion and love of design. After moving back to Calgary in 2004 and taking a break from the business world to raise her two boys, she obtained her Interior Decorating certificate at Mount Royal University.
Monica fuses her playful yet chic approach to colour with a love of mid century and soft modern furnishings bringing a sense of style and eclecticism to every project she touches. Monica combines her prior business skills with her love of interior design and applies the knowledge she’s accumulated in developing millwork design, fabric and textile schemes and art procurement. She believes that great decor and style can come at all price points. More than anything, she loves for clients to have a home that is unique to who they are. Whether it is shopping people’s houses to help them figure out how to showcase their treasures such as a special piece of art, or helping a homeowner figure out and execute on their own inspirational aesthetic, she cherishes having the opportunity to work with clients to help them love their homes. Monica works with MDG on a part time basis on art and decor related projects.
