In the Fall of 2022, we were engaged by our client to transform a 1,400 sq. ft. industrial-style salon into a warm, inviting boutique experience. Located in Britannia in Calgary, the design reimagined the existing layout to maximize openness, natural light, and flow—seamlessly guiding clients from reception to change areas to styling stations, while adding capacity for more stylists.

Inspired by the artistry of balayage, the concept blends minimalist elegance with functional comfort. A palette of soft neutrals—white, beige, and charcoal—pairs with marble-look surfaces, warm woods, metallic accents, and plaster-textured walls to create depth and visual interest. Rope screens, fluted details, and custom storage solutions balance aesthetics with efficiency, keeping the space refined and uncluttered.

Ambient, task, and accent lighting work in harmony to enhance both precision and atmosphere, while layered drapery, boucle fabrics, and curated artwork add softness and personality. The result is a modern salon that feels like a sanctuary—celebrating the craft of hair colouring in a space designed for beauty, luxury, and connection.
